Here's our Newsletter for January 2017!

Dear Parents/ Carers,

A very Happy New Year to you all from Anne and the Team. We welcome all our children back to the Nursery as well as welcoming our new starts, and hope they are well rested and ready for a new term of exciting indoor and outdoor experiences - we are very much looking forward to working with you all this term!

This month's newsletter is about ways in which you can help us to work more effectively for the children's benefit,
and get more involved in the life of the Nursery - so here goes!

As I’m sure you will all agree, outdoor play is on important part of every child’s learning experience and here at Lilliput Lane, we are establishing new strategies to ensure outdoor play has a firm place within each individual child’s daily routine. It is required that all children‘s nurseries offer the opportunity for outdoor play and this is regulated by the Care Inspectorate.

However, this is not something that we can do without the support of all our families.

Therefore we ask that all parents/carers have their children in by 09:30 am on each day. Outdoor play takes place at l0:00 am, and all children must be in attendance, have had their morning snack and have also had their nappies changed before they leave for the morning outdoor session.

Staff and children will return to the nursery at 11:30am, for lunch.

This means that children cannot be dropped off at Nursery between 9:30 AM and 11:30 AM as there will not be any staff in attendance to receive them. The regulations require that two members of staff need to be in attendance even if there is only one child in Nursery, which means that if we had to wait for a single child to be dropped off, we would not have sufficient staff to take the other children out.

In exceptional circumstances only we are happy to receive a child between 9:30 AM and 11:30 AM, but we will not do this on a regular basis.

Get Involved!

You all know about our Learning Journals system, but did you know that you can use it to make your own contributions to your childrens' records of their time at Lilliput Lane Nursery?

You can add your own comments to each of your child's observations,
in the box at the bottom of the observation -

You can also add your own Observations! Click on the What I did at Home! button in your child's profile -
Tell us your story, and you can also add photos!

Your contributions will form a permanent part of your child's record (which you will be able to take with you when he/she leaves, in paper form and/or on CD), and will also help us to tailor his/her learning experiences at nursery by, for example, following up on something he/she has shown an interest in at home!

Get More Involved!

Starting in the new year, we would like to develop our parent/carer and grandparent interaction by looking for volunteers to participate in our weekly visit to Barshaw Park. During this time, you will be able to join us for some of the fun learning experiences that take place within the grounds of the park. Please speak with Michelle, if you would like to know more about this and how you can get involved.

And Finally, a Reminder......

Last year some confusion was caused when Parentmail redesigned their app, putting Forms and Messages into separate sections instead of all on the same page! When checking your app you now need to remember to check both sections!

This is the screen where you select which section you want to check. The ones you want to check are Messages (e-mails) and Forms.

Tap on the "hamburger" icon (the three lines indicated by the blue arrow) to get back to the Selection screen.

Many Thanks!
